What is a tankerman?
The tankerman's role is critical to our nation's petroleum and chemical shipping industry. The tankerman serves as the person-in-charge of critical operations, with responsiblity for protecting the environment by ensuring the safe transfer of petrochemicals to barges. Tankermen must be certified by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Specialized Tankerman Training
At the TANKERMAN CAREER ACADEMY, our mission is simple: to train tankermen to be the best in the industry. Our proven approach includes:
- Classroom instruction
- One-on-one field training
- Fast-paced training format
- Offered in Baton Rouge, LA; Pasadena, TX; and Corpus Christi, TX.
Admission Requirements
A student must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for admission to TCA:
- Must be 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
- Able to read, write and speak clearly.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with no felony convictions.
- No DUIs/DWIs in the past three years.
- Must pass a drug screen and physical.
- The Tankerman Career Academy is a tuition-based training program. Applicants must have a letter of pre-approval from a financial institution for a loan covering the tuition fee, or verification of available funds.
